The “roll call” and “wish list” are key components to your wedding day. Why… might you ask? I use the wish list to stay on track with what my clients wish for me to capture during their wedding day. I use the roll call list as a way to round up who I will be capturing following the ceremony– This is a time saver!
Creating a Wish List
Each set of clients is different when it comes to wedding inspiration. That’s why the wedding industry is flooded with so many creative ideas… thank you, Pinterest! Clients spend numerous hours creating DIY projects to incorporate on their big day to make their wedding super unique and to define them as a couple. With each new client that I sign, I email over a document requesting the wish list, one month prior to the wedding date. This timeframe is super important because the client will be able to focus, without a time restraint, making sure no small detail is overlooked.
Roll Call List
The next list that I request is the good old roll call list. Did you know that I was a cheerleader in my younger days? I think I’m a big fan of the roll call list because it gives me an opportunity to cultivate my inner cheerleader… haha just kidding!
The roll call list names individuals in the order that the bride would like placement in each shot. The roll call list is super important to the post-ceremony flow and determines if it will take up to twenty or forty-five minutes for documentation. I am a huge fan of being super proficient with these images, so the family can scoot off to the reception and we can focus on capturing the wedding party + intimate shots of the newlyweds! Of course, everyone is super excited about relaxing and enjoying the after party!
Another reason why I love the roll call list is that it saves face. I’m going to put this out there… Families are more blended these days and family members who you hoped and dreamed that would be at your wedding, might not live to see this special day. This list will give you specific names to call out, so you are not guessing who is who or giving labels (“hey sister!”). Save face… just get the list.
